Feldpost Number 23 524

Post by kahl »

Well, I just bought this lot, with around 170 photos and 30 FP letters and cards in.

I just bought this lot because of 5 photos from SS-Regiment "Nordland" .. *lol*

Well guys, now my question..

Can any give all the info regarding FPnr.: 23 524???

The guy was in 2/Pion.Batl. 5 in 1934, and I guess he stayed in there the whole war, his name is Georg Munding

Thanks in advance...

The FPN 23524 indeed belonged to the 2. Kompanie Pionier-Bataillon 235.

It should be 1943 I guess, there is a Georg Munding (Born 05-07-1913 at Ehingen) MIA from 22.01.1943 at Stalingrad. He is remembered on cube 60, disk 15 at the Rossoschka (Wolgograd) cemetery.

The first feldpostcard is dated 29.9.41 with the FPnr. 23 524 on, the letters are without envelope, but the first letter is dated 3.6.41.
It can be him, because the last letter in this lot is dated 16.1.43.

Do you got any more information regarding Georg Munding??

I did a little research regarding 2. Kompanie Pionier-Bataillon 235.

They fought side by side with the SS-Division "Wiking",from 1940, they where under 198. Infanterie-Division, and they where at Dnjepropetrowsk from september to october 1940,and again at Mius/Rostow from november 1940 to june 1941.

SS-Division "Wiking" was at Dnjepropetrowsk from 28th july 1941 and at Mius/Rostow fom 22. november 1941 to 17. july 1942.

That fits just right with the Ss-Regiment "Nordland" grave photos and SS-Regiment "Germania" photos photos there also where in the lot.

My grandmother's brother was in 5. SS-regiment "Nordland" and died 8. january 1942 at Mius river.

I wrote "t should be 1943" because you wrote 1934.

Maybe you can get in contact with relatives, I send you a PM with the address of possible relatives.
