Could be polish or Imperial Austrian too.

Some people say it is an badge from the old german province of posen.
Posen is now a province of Poland anybody now of this thing is old?

That is a Prussian eagle, but not a military decoration, as far as I know. Maybe it belonged to all those "von" aristocrats and princes in the old Imperial German army, etc.

The badge could possibly be a Prussian Infantry badge from a pickelhaube helmet. If so then the value (in the Uk) is anywhere from £50 - £120.
