How can you tell the money is original ?
Including paper notes and coins ?
Does anyone know how to tell ?
Thanks
Herr
fake or real ?
fake or real ?
In memory of my great uncle
The way to tell generally if notes are real is the way you would any banknotes. Take a jeweler's loup and examine the engraving; are the little lines neat and crisp? One of the common ways bills are reproduced these days (for reenactments and such) is by laser print. You will see tiny parallel lines continious throughout the whole bill. Another way is by color printer and then you will see the dot matrix all over. Real bills show none of these things. Also in the blank white edge should be a watermark; hold it up to the light and you should see a picture of the portrait on the bill--if it's real--fakes done't have these.
Coins are easier. Again, examine closely; see if the surfaces are clean and clear, the detail (that which is not worn down by circulation) should be very sharp as they are struck. Most reproductions are cast and will show rough surfaces.
Also look on the edges--a bad piece will most likely show a mold mark. The larger silver RMs should have "Gemeinnutz geht vor eigennutz" (general good before individual good) printed in Germanic letters around the edge--a sure give away if the words are not present.
Once you examine several you will soon get to spot the fakes quite easily. The real ones far outnumber the fakes so chances are you will be looking at real ones. Hope this helps.

there's the old fashioned way......popeye the sailor says...
bite the coins...........if they bend,...............they aint gold.........
sorry, couldnt resist......
spend $30-40 on a world coin catalog, and look at the markings, etc on the coins, and compare them to the catalog.
most of the german wartime coins are not worth much, so no one fakes them. same thing with paper money. it's like anything else though,..........if it's got a high catalog value, then there's a chance it's fake. many gold coins are faked,........made from "real" gold, but made for the masses. the old german paper money from the 1900's - 1940's is very common, no one fakes those.......other then the concentration camp issues, etc.
what kind specifically are you asking about, and maybe someone can help you more.
cool?
