IS THERE A LIST OF IRON CROSS 2ND CLASS RECIEVERS OR WAS THIS A COMMON AWARD GIVEN TO GERMAN SOLDIERS? WHAT WAS THE IRON CROSS 2ND CLASS GIVEN FOR? THANKS BERNHARD

The Iron Cross 2nd Class was a common award indeed. One of the qualifactions of the award was bravery while facing the enemy.

Try to find the movie 'Cross of iron': "You want a piece of metal? Here you got it!" :wink:

You will not find a list as it was awarded around 2,5 million times.

Thanks for the info. on the IRON CROSSES. Did not know that it was awarded 2,5 million times. Have my OPAS original one and i thought that maybe there was a list. Also the movie CROSS OF IRON is that a newer movie or has it been ouy a few years. THANKS BERNHARD

Peckinpah is the greatest! If you like 'Cross of iron', you'll love 'The wild bunch'.

Serious now, I think it's great that you got the EK of your Grandfather.
