Minefields in the Liguran Sea

Post by Andrea »

Hello everyone,

Does anyone has a detailed map of minefields in the Ligurian Sea previously made by Regia Marina and then, after sept 8th, by the Germans?

Thanks in advance

Not right at hand, but the Bundesarchiv-Militärarchiv in Freiburg holds records of several German Navy units in tha Ligurian Sea; amont them the War Diaries of 70. Minensuchflottille, 7. Sicherungsdivision. I personally remember seeing there original maps of mine fields laid in front of the Ligurian coast. If memory serves me well, there were passages in between named after wild animals, like Leopard.
Better thing to do is check the original documents.
Best regards and good luck

For the Italian minefields it's easier. You have to ask for a copy of "La guerra di mine" book at the Ufficio Storico Marina Militare in Rome.
