Watch out for a scam

Post by Bittrich »

To all of those concerned,

Before I forget again, about two weeks ago I got an e-mail from someone who supposedly was from this forum. It was a scam and was obvious since the person wanted personal information. Bank account, social security number etc.

The e-mail stated that it was a female and their father had money and wanted to marry me. That is when they wanted the bank account number, etc. so they would forward me the "money".

I want to warn anyone out there that if you see such an e-mail to delete it. Of course had the person who sent it to me realized I was married I probably not received it.

Sincerly,
Bittrich

Identity Theft E-mail

I get those bloody things all the time.

Turn them into text files so you can get all their headers out, then copy and paste the whole thing to the spamcop web page. They'll chew on it and tell you where it really came from and you can file a complaint to that postmaster or administrator through them. It's a great site.

Amazing how E-bay, when they demand your personal numbers, is headquartered in Burma or Romania, according to Spamcop! :D

Scam

Thanks for the reply. When I posted this I didn't see that someone else posted it. The person who sent the e-mail to me mailed to others who brought it to Jason's attention. So as far as I know it has been resolved.
