ww1 iron cross

Post by centurion854 »

Does anyone know where I could find information of WW1 winners of the iron cross. My great uncle fought inn ww1 and won one but I don't know anything about it because he wouldn't talk about it.

I never heard of a WWI Iron Cross Winners list but if I where you I would contact the Deutsche Dienstelle (WAst) and fill out a Tracing Request. Maybe they have more information regarding your great uncle regarding his medals etc.

You have to wait about 6 > 8 months for a answer but it is definitely worth a try.

Richard, unfortunately the sites only dealt with WW2, but thanks for your reply.

Do you know the unit he was in. Most units would have a list of award winners.
Only he is lost who gives himself up as lost.
