Akira bows deeply with great respect and admiration for the Forum Hero Historians that he has lately disrespected.......

For the hat trick, does anyone know what type of fighter my grandfather flew?

I believe he flew the French Nieuport Scout while flying for the Lafayette Escadrill.

Thank you Shadow-san! Not having access to his own autobiography, I have always wondered about this point as internet sources are silent about it. I knew he flew a Nieuport, but there were many versions of this airplane.

I also share this picture, which was told to me as being of my Great Grandmother, although I never knew her. Much happens in the passing of generations....:

Another victim of mine, who unfortunately made it home to crash--I preferred it when they went into the sea. But downed is better than damaged!

A short Haiku from Akira's diary honoring the the pilots who defended the homeland:

I'm not the only one,
accused of hit and run.
Bullet holes all across your back,
I can see you had your fun.

And the rest of the Haiku:

You jump in front of my plane when you,
You know all the time, that
400 miles per hour is the speed I drive
You tell me its alright, you don't mind a little pain
You say you just want to take me for a ride

You're just like crosstown traffic
It's so hard to get through to you
Crosstown traffic
I don't need to run over you
Crosstown traffic
All you do is to slow me down
And all I'm tryin' to do is shoot you down

20mm is my standard shell
All it'll do is to send you straight to Hell
You say that's it's all right, You don't mind a little pain
I'm going to burn your a*s and your plane

You're just like crosstown traffic
A cannon shell will get through to you....
Death is lighter than a Feather, Duty is heavier than a Mountain....

811 hits for this thread--hell, I took more hits in my Raiden and didn't flinch!

Methinks the Board is frozen in fear at the prospect of acknowledging the heroism of the Japanese pilot!

Odd, the "famous" FW-190s, Doras and Messerschmidt's never faced the B-29 in combat!!! Only the lesser breeds of Lancasters and B-17s. Why do you think Germany was spared B-29 raids? Simple--because the B-29 was desperately needed against a harder enemy!!!

I suppose this is some minor form of racism against the Japanese and Asians in general--this lack of recognition!

Shame, shame on one Axis power's supporters ignoring another Axis power's bravery--no wonder we lost the War!
