pickelhaube: a better weapon than a hat?

Post by Dragunov »

my history teacher claimed that the spike on the pickelhaube was designed to be used as a CQB weapon... but that's total bull. but hey, was it ever used as such?

surprises?

Interesting thought for a 'weapon of opportunity,' but I don't think the spike-helm interface would hold up very long in a CQB situation.

....in that case the spike should have been on the FRONT! @{

well, when he claimed it was an offensive tool, i thought of headbutting, but his gestures were more like using it to stab people.

is it just me, or does it sound alot like more 'evil German super-soldier' propaganda crap? speaking of which, a student-made propaganda poster hangs in the room which reads "His kids speak German... make sure yours don't!" and there was drawing (like those in those Osprey books) of a German soldier with the T-Gewehr anti-tank rifle. of course, they all carried around those 30+ pound almost-as-tall-as-you suckers.
