Hello to all :D; something more...........................

The 61st Infantry Regiment in the Sudetenland (Infanterie Regiment 61 im Sudetenland). That unforgettable moment.

A unique feeling of military happiness.

During the three days of marching, the regiment took over the care and protection of Adalbert Stifter's beautiful forest homeland, which he so intoxicatingly sings about in the pamphlet called Hochwald. And Stifter didn't lie, what we experienced that fall before we left...

These weeks were literally a delightful and experiential period for the unit, in which they also experienced the largest forest in Europe near Boubín. The original life remains here, and in being and decay the eternal law of creation is revealed. On top of Boubín, on a 40-meter-high observation tower, the regiment hoisted a swastika flag and affixed to the tower a plaque commemorating the regiment's occupation of the Sudetenland, christened the Leiberturm. Before this period of experience was over, the regiment would crown him with a rather special honour.

The leader and chancellor of the Reich appointed his deputy in Bavaria, General Ritter von Epp, as honorary regimental commander for his 70th birthday. An honor for a regiment that he is especially proud of. And here in Vimperk, on October 20, the general took charge of the regiment from him during a ceremonial parade.

On October 21, the withdrawal of troops from the Sudetenland began, over which the flags of Greater Germany will fly forever. The troops marched home to the former Reich in long columns, back to the loading station, and the last crew from Munich marched on 27 and 28 October back to Traunstein (III./ IR 61).

Twice the 61st Infantry Regiment carried the flag to the new German land this year, twice shared Germany's power and its proud and free greatness, twice received the thanks of a population overjoyed at liberation. A truly unique and beautiful feeling of military happiness.
