One of the best unit histories from JJ Fedorowicz, as it included not only day to day details drawn from unit’s Kreigstagebuch, but also individual battle vignettes, and comments on the war situation in the area of 23. Story of one American infantry company in the month following the invasion of Southern France in 1944. ‘The Day’ refers to their battle against a German force including one Panther in the town of Allan. The Germans were a rearguard from 11th Panzer Division tasked with delaying the Americans while the German 19th Army fled northeast. A very well written account.
