Hello to all :D; the history follows......................

The fighting by Piotrkow - September 1939.

On September 04 of 1939 the SR 1 continued the advance towards the east and around 14:00 hours it had found resistance in Laski. During the building of a makeshift bridge there, the 2. /SR 1 underwent serious losses. The enemy still occupied the forest of Wygoda and had to be reduced. When the night fell, the Regiment broke away from the enemy and established a bridgehead in Jezow.

The recce troop Leutnant Metzger was conducting reconnaissance in the woods of Lubien. In early morning he attacked from south and southwest many times and found the woods was occupied by strong enemy force. Then all of a sudden on the southern edge he received strong enemy fire. The 8-wheeled armored car was hit, and Panzerschütze Beyer and Saynisch was killed. It was impossible to move using backward steering because Saynisch layed there. Still the heavily wounded troop leader and Panzerschütze Völker was able to bail out. The third light armored car recovered the troop leader in spite of heavy infantry fire, but Panzerschütze Völker died in the process. The second light armored car, only 100m away during the recovery attempt, drove back but the chassis fell into swampy field. But the crew Gefreiter Schmidt, Panzerschütze Bruner, Funker Süß did not give up, and with the help of some Volksdeutschen civilian, the vehicle was again able to move. They returned to the Abteilung. Recce troop Wachtmeister Dölling came back with heavily exhausted Leutnant Metzger. Three killed comrades and a heavily wounded officer will remain in the history of the Aufklärungsabteilung.

On September 04 of 1939, the 14 ID which previously had been subordinate to a motorised Army Corps returned to its old IV A.K., under Command of General d Infanterie v. Schwedler. The march of the division continued in the following order: The I.R. 101 in the lead, the I.R. 11 in the second line and behind followed the IR. 53. At 08:00 hours, the IR 11 had left its bivouac and then marched towards PACIERZOW with his I. Battalion., then the III. Battalion and finally the II. Battalion. The regiment encamped along the PACIERZOW-Piaski highway. Attacks to the bivouac were registered for the first time during the night on the part of civilians reason why it was ordered to the troops to be ready to march, with the vehicles on the way and with the horses saddled.

Hello to all :D; the history follows......................

The fighting by Piotrkow - September 1939.

05 Sep 1939.

The German attack: the 4 Pz which attacked alone, because the 1 Pz went towards Borawski-Gorami, had struck around noon the positions of the 19 DP. Violent combats were developed, but the Poles held their positions. The local reserves of the Polish division carry out a counterattack generating a quite difficult situation for the adversary.

Unfortunately the looked for release was not obtained and past the first moment of surprise, the 4 Pz gave back the blow with violence. The defensive position of the 19 DP was finally broken around 16:00 hours, and the Polish division suffered serious losses. The locality of Piotrkow was conquered after two hours of intense combats.

Hello to all :D; the history follows......................

The fighting by Piotrkow - September 1939.

05 Sep 1939.

The Battle Group II (I./SR 12, I./AR 103, 2. /Pz Abw. In the evening was conquered a security position due north of the Prudka. The PR 35 surpassed the group and advanced towards Gemulin.

The Battle Group I (II. /SR 12, II. /AR 103, 1. Hello to all :D; the history follows......................

The fighting by Piotrkow - September 1939.

05 Sep 1939.

The Germans exploited the penetration immediately and the 4 Pz was sent towards Tomaszow-Maz. to the assault of the positions of the 13 DP; Wolborz fell around midnight conquered by a tank group. A part of the German armor division had to stop and to solve the destiny of thousands of combatants of the 19 DP which with pkl Kwasciszewski (Commander of the division) ahead was taken as prisoners.

During the night the 29 DP launched several counterattacks on the flank of the penetration in order to restrain it, but these attempts were fragmented and without a coordinated plan, therefore they finished in failures and with strong losses. The German reactions rejected the 29 DP of the Pilica and their elements fell back in disorder.

Hello to all :D; the history follows......................

The fighting by Piotrkow - September 1939.

06 Sep 1939.

On September 6, 1939, the IR 11 achieved the assigned objective, the outskirts of Przedborz, in the evening. Here it took some rest. The 13th ID (Mot.) was following behind. By nightfall the shooting was increased at Przedborz, especially in the sector of II. Battalion. Oberleutnant Emmerich personally received the order of Oberst Hasse to restore the calm in the town. The14. Company went into position with two Platoons in the middle of the town’s square and opened fire with explosive shells. The effect of the grenades was amazing and the quiet was restored, a house to house search performed by the company yielded no results. The destruction of a bridge over the Czarta delayed the surpassing of the motorized division so that the pause was extended.

The 4 Pz attacked relentlessly throughout the day on September 06 and towards the evening it had reached Tomaszow-Maz. seizing the city's southern sector. The polish 13 DP made one last counterattack to liberate the town with no results and the worn out Polish division could not prevent the Germans to conquer the entire town.

Hello to all :D; the history ends......................

The fighting by Piotrkow - September 1939.

06 Sep 1939.

The battle on the Polish side was conducted in a disorderly and erratic manner without the General Dab-Biernacki has been able to know how or to conceive an operation with all his forces, for example the Cavalry Brigade Wilno remained secluded in the forest of Lubién and thus, as the fight ended, three Polish infantry divisions were put out of action one after another.

While the PR 2 fought intensely during September 6, 1939 in Zawada, the SR 1 rejected violent counterattacks on Petrikau Polish / Piotrkow.

Thus, the General v. Reichenau counting on the armored spearhead of the 4th Pz has been able to accomplish the following:

Open the way to Warsaw from Piotrkow to Rawa-Mazowiecka .

It destroyed a large part of Polish reserves.

Isolated the Second Army Corps of Army "Prussia."

Hello to all :D; something more................

Kazanow - Sep 07, 1939.

During the afternoon of September 6, 1939 the 1. Le Div belonging to XIV AK (Mot) attacked towards Konskie, in fact after the change in the direction of the attack only the reserve elements were involved in the action, the KSB.6 and the I./Pz.Rgt.11 on orders of Major v.Seckendorff.

The first contact was on the road from Czermna to Wyszyna with the Reconnaissance squadron of the 163 pp (36 DP Res). German units attacked Rudą Maleniecką, which was defended by the 3. Company of the I. / 163 pp. To close the gap of 20 km between the 36 DP Res and 3. DP, rtm's B. Riczki squadron was detached to Stąporkowa and Krasnej.

Hello to all :D; something more................

Kazanow - Sep 07, 1939.

During the night from 06 to September 7, 1939 the situation of the 36 DP Res deteriorated and a withdrawal towards Konskie was decided. Taking advantage of the fog at 22:00 hours on September 7, 1939 the division took positions around Konskie, with the 163 pp deployed in the western of Modliszewic and southwestern of Nowi Kazanow.

At approximately 14:00 hours and with strong support from artillery the German attack was precipitated, the fight continued until dark (troops of the IV AK). During the night the Polish troops had to retreat to the east, with the new assembly area east of the road Skarżysko - Szydłowiec in the forests south of Sadek and west of Kierza. The pulk Ostrowski led the staff, the company command, the reconnaissance squadron and most of the rolling stock to Barak. Other columns marched by Nowy Kazanów, Końskie, Furmanów, Hutę, Barak y Piłę, Kozią Wolę, Niekłań, Majdów, Skarżysko Książęce. In the night elements of IV.A.K. take Konskie.
