Freikorps

Post by Stalingrad »

Hello,
It is soon 90 years since WW1 ended. It made me think that most of those who fought in that ware are gone by now. But, does anyone know how many Freikorps veterans there are left? Or IF there are any left? And also, does anyone know any good biographies written by the veterans?

Thanks in advance,
S.

Hello S.,
now the "boys" must be about 110. Here is a list of the eldest male germans (powered by wiki  ):
1 Hermann Dörnemann 27. Mai 1893 – 2. März 2005 111J/279T
2 Friedrich Wedeking 10. Oktober 1862 – 5. Mai 1973 110J/207T
3 Arno Wagner 4. Juni 1894 – 22. Dezember 2004 110J/201T
4 John Mauch 24. Dezember 1888 – 7. März 1999 110J/73T
5 Wilhelm Schorner 3. Februar 1889 – 29. März 1999 110J/54T
As you see there is nearly no chance that even only one is still alive.
Best regards
Matt
