The Overloon Panther (need help)

Post by Bram79 »

Guys,

I'm a volenteer at the warmuseum in Overloon. We have a Panther tank wich was knocked out on the 13th of October 1944 in Overloon. We are looking to find its crew. The crew was killed when the tank was hit and they bailed out. We think that the crew is burried at the German warcemetry in ijselstein the Netherlands.

The fahrgestell nummer (Fgst.Nr.) of the Panther is 128427 and its turret number is 222 (2nd kompanie, 2nd platoon (zug), 2nd vehicle) Panzerbrigade 107.

Does anyone know how I can find its crew or atleast its commander?

This tank gets some coverage in the Book "Kampfgruppe Walther and Panzerbrigdae 107 but they do not name the crew. The book does give the date as 12th October however which might help you locate any graves.

No, you posted 13th October while the book in question says the 12th October. Therefore if you have the date wrong then you might well have been ignoring the crew when you saw the 12th as their death date. This is why I asked you about the date. If they actually died on the 12th you can search more accurately and if the book is incorrect then you have lost nothing in looking at the 12th.
