SR1 11-12-13 Schuetzen Kompanie May 1940

Post by Spahi 53 »

Hello,

I am looking for the actual organization of a Schuetzen company belonging to Schuetzen-Regiment 1 (1. Panzer-Division) in May 1940.

The only reference I have is KStN 1114 dated 01.11.41 but I assume there should be another one, quite different, in 1939 or 1940.

I am interested as well in the type of vehicles and weapons of a Schuetzen platoon belonging to IIIrd Battalion / SR 1 (11th, 12th or 13th Coy)...

Thanks a lot for any information ! :D

Hello Thierry !

For a good overview, you may have a look here :

or here :

For the problems related with a very detailed answer to your question, have a look here :

At the time of May 1940, it is possible that some changes had occured in 1. PzDiv. :

a) The Schützen-Kp. of SR. 1 should be equipped with MTW (= Sdkfz. 251) by OKH order.
From this side :
http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Waf ... rzeuge.htm

>> 18.10.1939 Befehl zur Ausstattung des gesamten Schützen-Regiments 1 (3 Bataillone) mit m.SPW.
Am 10.5.1940 meldete das Rgt. einen Bestand von 137 gep. und 26 ungep. m.SPW. <<

You can find the info there, that 1. PzDiv. had at least enough of those vehicles, to equip several
companies with MTW ( 7 companies, according to a book by K. Ch. Richter, Panzergrenadiere,
(but I don't know which :( !)).

b) According to the same book, in May 1940, 7 companies should have converted their
Gliederung to 2 l.MG/squad, for a total of 18 l.MG and 2 s.MG in the company.
Again, I don't know, which were the exact companies.

Perhaps anybody can confirm or correct this information ?!

Best regards,

hero.
