Re: Digging up relics in Germany

I had myself a very close encounter with such "relics". Years ago i was an organisator of christian youth summer camps, and we made a walking trip in the Westerwald (a big forest and place of a few WW2 battles). Some of the younger kids ran through the woods near the walking tracks the all...

Re: U-77 Survivor Question

Hello Edward, sorry i can't give you a clear answer, but i have some infos that might help you. I'm not familar with reenactment, but i think you might search something like the Sturmpioniere/Luftlandepio...

Help Identify young man - Waffen-SS?

Hi all. I need some help identifying this soldier. I only know it was taken around 1943-1944.
I'm thankful for any information, depending on person, unit or whatever.

Re: 2cm flak

Hi! Some germans might laugh, but the translation is computer. Sure no thing we would define today as a computer ;) It was part of a sea-ready aiming system for the 2cm flak, especially for ships. The complete term is "Vorhaltewinkel-Rechendose". The first part describes it's function. The...

Re: Welcome to the forum, tell us about yourself!

Hi everyone! I joined this board a few days ago, when i was searching information about WW2 veterans on the net. My interest in WW2 started early in school, mostly because it takes a very big part of the historical education in german schools. My newerly grown interest depends on my grandfather who ...
