there is a military museum on the island of texel, that might be able to help you out some. not sure what it's called, do a search on google, for military museums on texel.

one of my family stories, is of "mein onkel", who was in the luftwaffe, went to leningrad, transfered to italy. he was in palermo, and fought all the way up the italian boot. he was in monte cassino. a little past there, someone stole his backpack, with all his papers and stuff in it.........

one of the photo albums in my archive, is from the RAD and luftwaffe flak defense around schweinfurt, and includes shots of the big raids, etc. the owner of the album had an eye put out during the bombings. might be interesting, to scan them and have your friend make comments where he can to go alon...

what day, and location was he, when he was captured? the dog tags might be traceable, but he wouldnt have gotten it til he was processed into the camp. do you know what camp he was in in england? i have some of the camp "newspapers", from camp 230, in england, '46 - 48 dated, mostly early ...
