Re: Trojca - Modelhobby Big Panther book

Got it now. I had not heard of it, but a little research shows it to be an amalgamation of a number of previously published smaller books on the Panther. My concern apart from the €500 plus cost, is the rather dated publication date of 2003. Not a lot of colour for 500 pages, given their more modern...

Re: Stackpole books to publish re-issue of Mark's Island of Fire

Well if it is a Stackpole Publication, be warned, it will most likely be a "Perfect Binding" job ( the most imperfect means of binding a book ever devised). No better than a toilet roll at worst.....
Look for a Leaping Horseman edition if possible...

Stille Nacht

Ever since I became interested in military history,(which is as long as I can remember) on Christmas eve I am reminded of the plight of those German soldiers at Stalingrad. In matters of military history it must stand as one of the poignant of all. Within a short few months they had come from being ...

Why Did It Take So Long....

The more I read about the Second World War the more I am amazed at how long it took the Allies to win the war. Apart from "the threat of THE bomb" it was never in any kind of doubt. The sheer volume of the American war output was staggering, with much of the Russian armour on the eastern f...

Most memorable quote.......

Sometimes when reading books about the Eastern Front, I am reminded of a quote from a book I read many years ago, and which has remained with me ever since, as some of the most profound words I ever read on the Second World War. They are from the haunting book "Stalingrad" by Heinz Schrote...

Re: New book on SS-Pz.Rgt.12

I thought as much. I have seen some of your fine books advertised, how I wish they were in English...... As an aside I just purchased the two volume history of the "Gotz Von Berlichingen"( by heimdal) despite some indifferent reviews about translation. While the photographs are okay, the t...

KONIGSTIGER....

 It looks like the TROJCA book "Konigstiger" is on the high seas at last, heading towards all interested Tiger enthusiasts waiting patiently across the world. The new book contains 720 pages, approximately 850 photographs, approximately 200 2D and 3D colour drawings, 40 maps and 30 c...
