Re: T34 Analysis
The one about the sloped armour reducing the amount of space available internally is a typical Soviet era design fault; immediately postwar, all those "domed" turret designs through the next 10-15 years meant exactly the same thing, a lot of lost/unuseable space in the turret out towards t...

David, that's great - it puts the original 7,5 cm Panzergranate 38 (HL) into the Sealion timeframe

Re: Passage UK to Vienna, May 1942?
I'll check this one for you over the next few days. At least one Abwehr agent got back to Germany via Lisbon from Ireland...and Sean Russell, CoS of the IRA, travelled from the UK to Germany during the war by approximately the same route.

Oh, the "formatting" buttons? They appear on mine...
Leo, clear out your cache/history....then when you come back on the site again, it should "force" them into view.

Re: Brit/Aussie 25 Pounders
Hi John....going by the name the only options are either the then-current 25 pdr...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ordnance_QF_25-pounder ....or what's usually called the 18/25 pdr...or the "Mark I" in that article...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ordnance_QF_25-pounder#Mark_I ...and going by t...

Re: Combat vehicles: track or rubber?...
L., I think it's more that "today" our hostilities of choice...ahem...require dual-role vehicles - AFVs that are both practical APCs and infantry section carriers wiv turrets on in the modern battlefield.... AND can be used as impressive "policing" vehicles". Our fault for n...

Re: Did Günter Prien Have Help at Scapa Flow?
John...if you're still looking in on this - and others who have commented... Noone needed to help Prien - the Germans were inside the RN's codes from virtually the very first day of the war if not sooner! The Navy's movements, daily wireless traffic etc. would have been monitored - in the fi...

Vehicle count - Heer 35th infantry division, early war
Guys, I'm trying to obtain a rough (or precise!) vehicle count for the 35th ID either at the beginning of the war, or the beginning of the campaign in the West on May 10th 1940. I have a count for the 35th's MT as of the Sealion period in September 1940 - when horses were withdrawn from some consitu...

Re: ships needed for Sealion
...not forgegtting that the thousands of men the Kriegsmarine "found" to man the hundreds... thousands ... of commandeered barges, and fishingboats, and motorboats, and ferries - came from the crews of their damaged capital ships that were under repair after Norway! A little wrinkle there ...

Haen, I can only echo Leo's thanks with my own, and everyone on the management team's, for all the efforts you have put in over the years here and elsewhere.
I will be sorry to see you leave And even more sorry for the how of it...
