Cruisers, CL and CA, operating from Norway under a Naval Bomber Umbrella. Thereby shutting out the PQ-convoys for real. Some radar bases on the North Norwegian shoreline would also be good. More modern U-boats than historical would be good in the mix too, but more important is to boost the naval bom...

Hi JASGripen, I have a book at home with USN Submarine totals, I'll check it out for you and post later. The US submarine service racked up huge tonnage scores against the Imperial Japanese Merchant fleet, totally decimating it. Until I read a history of the Pacific War, I had no idea just how much...

GMT's Barbarossa series got good rules. They don't go into detail as the game is meant to be playable (whole of Barbarossa's army groups is so large that details bog the thing down). But they have made some smart moves in the rules to make the game interesting anyway. Different Sequence of Play for ...

Martin, thanks for your extensive posts, they are of great interest. I don't see how it can be in any other way, than that the Panthers were left in Holland. You can both argue that it is plausible that they are left behind based on figures and reefer to the well known order that the 9th should tran...

Where were the I pz. reg.of Frundsberg at the time? I checked the Pz. inspectors lists (were you can't see were the reg. is), but I Pz. reg of Frundsberg got sent 10 Panthers to it the 27/9, and they had 5 of them before that. You can find info in Kershaw's It Never Snows in September . From top of my head I can tell that they had paratroop's special mortars in addition to usual guns, received before transformation from the para army at the start of the fighting. The unit also had SS-werfer unit Nickmann added, with 12 Ne...

Thanks again for all input. This project is on ice for a while as I will do an Arnhem trip (and further off to Freiburg). I you can guess it is currently not about this topic, but it will be taken on later. If any of you got any electronically copied source material or literature and care to share, ...
