Hello
The 2nd Panzer Army took part in the fighting around Orel during the Zitadelle offensive but was transferred to the Balkans soon after the fighting at Kursk had died out. Does anyone know why? Thanks in advance.

Re: Out-of-print book updates
It's a very good first-hand account of Fallschirm operations - and from a middle-ranking commander; there aren't too many of those. It's not as vivid as say Pöppel (although his account of Crete is pretty brief) or as good as Ringel's Hurra die Gams . It's a decade or so since I read it, but the fa...

Re: Out-of-print book updates
Good luck on that. Even the reprint is going for over £35/$60. The original sells regularly for over £100. It is a very good book, but it ain't worth that. :[] Hi Richard. How good is the book? I mean from a historiographical point of view. How does it compare with other accounts of Operati...

No End Save Victory
This is a series of essays on the Second World War by prominent historians such as William Manchester, Stephen Ambrose, John Keegan, David Glantz, and many others covering diverse aspects of the war. Rather interesting.

Terrible Victory by Mark Zuehlke
This book details the fighting in the Scheldt Estuary between Canadian II Corps and units of the German 15th Army. One of the bloodiest and least mentioned campaigns of the war IMO.

Re: Best Grenades
I'm wondering - did post-war manufacture of grenades in the U.S military reflect any improvement over the M36 as far as incision lines etc.?

Re: Best Grenades
I also remember reading that Allied soldiers did not fear the German stick-grenades as much as the Landsers feared the M36. The reason given was precisely because of the fragmentation caused by the latter as opposed to the concussion effect of the Stielhandgranate. I can't remember the source though...
