Unknown detonator (or something else?)
Hi all Can anyone identify this "unit" in the photos? The box was found in a basement after it flooded, and according to the owner, his father was a member of the danish resistance, and the box should be some kind of detonator - but I cannot seem to find anything like this anywhere? Others...

Re: National Scholar Hotel, Copenhagen
You are probably looking for "Scala" - there's a bit here; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Scala (I know, it's wikipedia, but on this occasion it doesn't seem wrong, hehe...) Also, a bit (in Danish, though) on Youtube from the history of Scala; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKZ9F_g...

Re: Pictures - a couple of questions
Hmm, I do see the resemblence - but that would be quite a coincidence? But thank you for your reply - do you know if he was by any chance wounded in 1942? Other comments on the Pictures are of course still welcome. Found out that the groupphoto shows Slovakian soldiers, but other than that I still n...

Sperrgruppe Schäfer
Hello there I have come across a mention of this group, Sperrgruppe Schäfer, and was wondering if anyone has any information about it's whereabouts other than what can be found in a post on this forum, namely that they were in operation around Moscheiken (Mazeikiai today) in the baltics? I have foun...

Re: Unit under III Germ. PzKorps - looking for city in Croatia?
Hi Fridgeman
Again, thank you very much.
Through the tourist-information in Kranj I have managed to contact the monastery, which is still active today. They apparantly have an archive of the area, so that could be very interesting.
I will post a followup if anything interesting shows up :-)

Re: Unit under III Germ. PzKorps - looking for city in Croatia?
Hello Fridgeman Thank you VERY much for the answer, fits perfectly ;-) I have asked the same question on a couple of messageboards, and so far I have been centered around Mekinje, also in modern day Slovenia, and less than 20 km from Kranj as the crow flies. So definitely the right area. Thank you a...

Unit under III Germ. PzKorps - looking for city in Croatia?
Hello there In some papers about a unit under III Germ. Panzerkorps I have come across a note saying that they were in "Monkedorf/Monkendorf/Save" in Croatia for training. I have been looking around and found the river Sava in Croatia (running through Zagreb) - but I can't seem to find any...

Re: Looking for info on Russian and allied PoW-camps
Hi Alan
Thank you very much for the reply - seems like a book worth reading :-)
Do you know if part 3 is also about the Stalag 3C Küstrin, or more about the camps in general?

Looking for an article from "Der Freiwillige"
Hello there I hope someone is able to help me, even though my request i VERY wide... I have been told that an issue of Der Freiwillige from the late (last half) of the 90's should contain an article by a dutchman named Willem Visser which has some information about the 1. Finding a PoW - and his brother?
Hello I have come across a letter from the Red Cross (dated 29/7-45) confirming that a named german grenadier is present in a PoW-Camp in the English Zone at that time. The letter is sent to a man with the same surname (his brother?) who is a sanitätsfeldwebel at Timmendorfer Strand, Lübecker Bucht,...

Re: Need info on part of Nordland - Artillery
Hi Mark Thank you for clearifying. I hope to learn.... just about anything. I have no info, but ideally would be some pictures from the unit, or some lists that would confirm that the person I am looking for was actually in the unit. I have been looking for over a year, and only have bits and pieces...
