Couple of Panzer unit type queries...
Over on the wwiidaybyday site, there's a reproduced Light Panzer Company KStN table, that mixes Panzer IIs, IIIs and IVs into the same unit. Has anyone seen any indication as to whether this was intended for general usage, or restricted to certain units? http://www.wwiidaybyday.com/kstn/kstn1171b1fe...

Re: Panzer II reductions during 1942?
Thanks very much for the replies both. So perhaps best to think of the Panzer II as a 'wasting asset' throughout 1942 in equipment terms then. When it's gone, it's gone! Thanks also for the clarification on the Pioneer Panzer IIs only appearing on the late 1941 tables. My understanding is that the F...

Panzer II reductions during 1942?
I obtained copies of the November 1941 KStN tables a while ago for the Panzer Battalion, and recently got down to trying to reconcile them with the different authorised totals for various Divisions for June 1942. While doing this and Googling for background, I found reference to a reduction in the n...

Re: Organization of Hevay Panzer Bn HQ
All the variations of the Tiger Bn Staff Company can be found over at Sturmpanzer.com http://www.sturmpanzer.com/Default.aspx?tabindex=5&tabid=621&item=3&sec=1 you want 1150d and 1150e for the mid-wa period and then 1107b (fG) and 1107 (fG) for the late war variations. You'll note that t...

Re: Grossdeutschland Regimental support units
Thanks very much for the replies gents, most appreciated, especially the clarification re the SP equipments. 16 SP heavy infantry guns also confirms the total of 8 per Regt from early 1943 I've seen, though I could never find reference to a KStN for an 8-gun unit. I suppose they just used a modifica...

Grossdeutschland Regimental support units
OK, one last query... The two motorised Infantry Regiments of Grossdeutschland had additional combat support from around 1942, generally referred to as a fourth Battalion. I've seen this described for 1942 as including an Infantry Gun Company (4 light and 4 heavy weapons), an Anti-tank Company (6 SP...

Re: SPW in Pz.Gr.Rgt during Zitadelle 1943
I've seen a Gliederung for 2nd Panzer which indictaes just one halftrack equipped Bn for late summer of 1943, around September, so after Kursk. I don't think there were many Panzer Divisions, if any, with two halftrack Bns during 1943. I think the Divs you quote up to and including 9th Panzer were a...

Sturmgeschützbrigade KStN, circa 1944
I note that there were two sets of KStN table issued for these units during 1944 - 416, Staff and Staff Battery (motorised) in an Assault Gun Brigade, with Batteries of 10 or 14 guns, dated 01.06.44 416b, Staff and Staff Battery (motorised) in an Assault Gun Brigade, with Batteries of 14 guns, dated...

Panzerjager unit organisation, 1941-43
I was looking recently at the variations in organisation for the Panzerjager Abt found in Panzer and Infantry Divs during the mid-war period. I eventually came to the conclusion that even the authorised totals are too baffling to contend with, let alone actual strengths! Two points though I wondered...
