Wooden bullets are likely blanks.
In recoil operated wpns Eg.MG34 and MG42's would use them, using a shredder in place of the normal muzzle recoil booster.

This has me questioning multi-volume sets in the future for me. JJF has been painfully slow with this series with delay after delay.

The end of the year is fast approaching with no sign of "Das Reich V". Early 2009 is long past. I'm currently rereading "Das Reich III" I should finish "Das Reich IV" before the end of the year. Also working on finishing my 2nd SS army for FoW, about 8000 pts worth. Art...
