No worries

No worries, you are right & I am wrong....in the land of the free it is ok to have an opinion as long as it is the same as yours! I am not going to bother wasting my time arguing with you, as the old saying goes, never argue with an idiot, you will only educate them!! Take that which ever way yo...

So what, are you saying that because of the German veterans NS past, they shouldnt be looked after, with war pensions, etc? These men fought for their homeland & what they thought was right, at the time (as did our veterans), just because they fought for what we now know was a misguided belief &...

You know my beliefs? Really.... pretty interesting seeing as how you have never met me & you work this out from one post...evidence is factual according to the person who gives it, sometimes the facts get distorted (ask 10 people their version of what happened & you will get 10 different ver...

Atrocities against the WAFFEN SS

Like alot of the "atrocities" committed by the WAFFEN SS, evidence & the version of events seems to differ, according to who you believe. It is interesting how we have heard all about the WAFFEN SS atrocities committed against Allied POWS & civillians but have heard little about th...

Respected Australians

The Australians were well respected by the WAFFEN SS & other German units that fought against them. Their legend was forged at Gallipoli in Turkey, April 25th 1915 & continued on into WW2 at places like Tobruk, Kokoda & Crete.

Paul, Not really romanticising German leaders, just I guess interested in how things may have turned out, had things been done a bit differently, in regards to OKW & how the war was conducted; EG Hitler's ridiculous stand & fight till the last man & bullet orders which seemed common plac...

Guderian

Guderian may not have single handedly invented the BLITZKRIEG but if there had been more leaders like him (& they were allowed to actually have some free reign in running the war, instead of it being run by the Lance Corporal & military ignoramus Hitler), things may have turned out a little ...

An impressive list!

An impressive list Shadow, well done! I am only new to this great site but am already most impressed with the quality & quantity of Third Reich info (especially the WAFFEN SS, which is my special area of interest). A great post :D
Cheers from Down Under in Australia,
Craig.

Would be very interesting

It would be very interesting to meet & chatt to some WAFFEN SS veterans but I guess like all men of that era, they are now old men & many are frail & in poor health, so may not be able (or be willing) to talk about their war time experiences. Sad to think that in a few years time, there ...

As I have learnt from my readings on the WAFFEN SS, the word WAFFEN meant "ARMED", so what was said in one of the previous posts was correct; WAFFEN SS = ARMED SS. Also found your explanation of the WAFFEN SS motto interesting, a good, interesting post. I am only new to this site but am im...

HIAG

Holmer, this may have been through HIAG, the veterans organisation (I am not sure of this but I have a feeling I read it somewhere). Certainly here in Australia (& I would imagine in your country too Holmer) veterans are now honoured & wives get war widows pensions, etc & one would like ...

Guderian & Dietrich

I remember reading in a few books that Guderian & Sepp Dietrich actually got on quite well; a mutual respect existed between them that Dietrich didnt enjoy with some of the other senior Heer personnel. He (Dietrich) must have been an inspirational leader to hs men in the Liebstandarte & late...
