Ooo, sorry, I didn't even know this section existed.

Phylo, thank you. Was that in the "ministries" trial?

Luftwaffe War Crimes

Greetings, all. I'm writing a paper for my ethics class, and I'm wondering if any of you know a Luftwaffe person who was found guilty of war crimes for (and only for) bombing cities. Definition, according to the Charter that set up the trials: War Crimes: namely, violations of the laws or customs of...

I think I remember reading that the weapons that were most feared might not necessairly be the most lethal. Like, I think Nebelwerfers (Nebelwerfen?) were at the top of the list of weapons the Allied infantryman feared, but caused a small fraction of actual casulties. Hmm. I have these lists of pist...

Please, could you expound upon that? I mean, I know that generally, every tank had a radio in it, and every infantry formation had a radio in it. I know nothing about the US employment of walki-talkies, or the lack thereof in other forces.

Would man-portable radios have broken the stalemate?

Greetings, all. I'm reading Rommel's Infantry Attacks! for one of my classes, and I am struck by the massive difficulties Rommel had in conducting mobile (for that day and age) operations using wired communications. Furthermore, I have read in other sources that what would happen in World War I is t...

I'm currently reading Rommel's Infantry Attacks! for my German Military History class, and the book is about his experiences in World War I. At the start of it is his experiences on the Western Front before (and at the start of) the stagnation. Rommel commanded such a trench raid, and it boiled down...

Citino's The German Way of War

Greetings, all. I'm reading Citino's The German Way of War for my German Military History class, and so far, I'm really not feeling it. First of all, after being exposed secondhand (through Keegan's A History of Warfare ) to Hanson's idea of a Greek/Western Way of War, I have to admit I am skeptical...

I thought the old knight guy stated that the immortality (and the Grail) wouldn't last/couldn't be taken past the Great Seal in the first chamber? As for Nazis, well, the reason I was convinced that the new one would have Nazis in it would be: 1.) Dr. Jones' arch-nemisis. I mean, of the 3 movies, tw...

German-ish looking uniform in the new Indiana Jones?

Greetings, all. I watched the trailer for the new Indiana Jones, and the uniform worn by Cate Blanchett, to me, looks to be strongly in the style of a German WWII uniform, if not actually modeled on one. I took a rough look, and to me, it looks like a Luftwaffe uniform; however, I have a friend who ...

I sat in my chair at work for about 30 seconds and just stared at the screen while my mind tried to wrap itself around this. Even as a hobby, or to prove someone wrong, this would be a fantastic resource, and since i'm supposed to start graduate school in the near future, working towards a masters i...

I have to agree, riding it into battle, or being too close to it in battle, would be a bad idea. However, all those pictures of American troops catching rides after D-Day? The point of those pics is that the troops are on tanks for movement to the front lines; furthermore, I would go so far as to sa...

W00t, my account still works after not using it for years.... In any case, from what I remember, the whole Italian campaign was slow-moving, and towards the beginning of the end, basically stalemated. Didn't it more or less stop completly in north Italy, with the.....oh, that line....damn, i forget....

Brecourt Manor

Greetings, all. One of my friends is a ROTC cadet, and she needs information on the assault at Brecourt Manor. I found this site, but i'm hoping that all of you learned people might know of additional sites, or books to consult.

Thanks!
