Stefan, Hidden within your reply were brief moments when I could agree with you, but I still sense a lot of pent up aggression and blame towards soldiers that should not be there. I find that many times the most popular names are only just that: popular. As if there is no substance behind the image;...

Stefan, Your reply to me sums up quite a bit about your beliefs in warfare. Throughout history wars have been fought by generals and soldiers who did not agree with their leaders. World War II is no different. These men perform their job without questioning the political environment around them. You...

My comment "only a student" was meant to imply that without having actually experienced combat, it is wise for a historian to temper their opinion of soldiers/generals who definitely live/die in an environment very different than the safety of one's home while studying. I notice that you a...

An article by a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves?! U.S. military doctrine, for ages, has believed that if it can be taught in a classroom environment, it is sacrosanct. Unfortunately for the U.S. theory, Napolean and Alexander the Great didn't take the class! Rommel continously pushed for more reso...

Heaven forbid someone have an opinion about a war that MIGHT occur! DR, no apologies necessary. Some individuals are a little too touchy when it comes to differing opinions. If anyone were thinking of attacking the East again, I would think that the T-34 would be analyzed much more than the Tiger! T...

Pardon me for intruding into this discussion, but I would never think that when an individual has respect for a Roman Legionnairre, a Viking from the tenth century, or for a German soldier of either World War, that their opinion would mean that they were right-wing. The Vikings were very brutal in t...
