Generalleutnant Siegfried Verhein, 551. Volks.Gren.Division

I need very much a photo of generalleutnant Siegfried Verhein. He was commander of the 551. Volks-Grenadier-Division from October 1944 to the end of the war and fought in Lithuania and East Prussia (Samland).

I am researching for a book.

Do anyone know more about this general?

Hi DCC There must have been a 1551 Panzerjager Abteilung. On my research of a German soldier, who was executed by his own near my home in Denmark at May 7th 1945, I have asked Deutsche Dienststelle in Berlin about him. They told me, that he was belonging to the 3. Panzerjagd Abteilung 1551. So there...

Hi Roger

Thank you for your very quick reply. Are 3. Panzerjagd Abteilung 1551 and 551VGD the same unit?

Maybe parts of this unit were evacuated over the Ostsee to Denmark. At least one soldier from the unit was in Danmark in May 1945. Do you know more about the story of the unit?
