News update: Last week I received from the publisher a formated, but still unedited pdf copy of the book. Currently it is 286 pages long (save the index) and contains 18 portrait photos, 39 'action' photos, 17 maps and 9 OOB charts. Generally speaking, it looks good and reads well. All the best Kamen

The town was captured by the Germans on 5 Dec 41. The Soviet 148th Rifle Division liberated it on 9 Dec 41.

98.ID was one of the divisions involved in war crimes. On 11/12 April 1944 one of its regiments killed 584 civilians, including some 200 children, and wounded another 100 in the town of Stary Krym.
