Re: Donau Schwaben

Servus, My wife's family also comes from ethnic German stock in Romania. They however, came from the Romanian Banat and not Transylvania (although you wouldn't know it when she gets mad at my book bill.) There was a considerable ethnic German presence in the Romanian Banat area, too. Mostly former ...

Disposition of Captured German Medical Personel

What was the disposition of German Medical personel (doctors, nurses, and medics) captured by the Americans and other allies near the front? Were they released and allowed to return to the axis lines or were they sent to prisoner of war camps?

T4: Euthanizing of German Wounded on Eastern Front

Dr. Robert J. Lifton in his book, THE NAZI DOCTORS: Medical Killing and the Psychology of Genocide, suggests that those doctors and others employed with the T4 Program were sent to the Eastern Front to euthanize severely wounded German soldiers(page 143). Was this common practise? Were there any rec...

Re: Army of Böhmen und Mähren.

Henrik Andersson: the Vladni Vojsko was not a Czech collaborationist army. As a matter of fact, when sent to Italy as a construction unit, many of its soldiers deserted to the local partisan or made their way to Switzerland with the hope of joining the free Czechoslovakian Army in Britain. Perhaps t...

Opa: thank you for the link- http://www.reflex.cz/Clanek5803.html. I managed to read this Czech language site with a very rough if not mangled translation using Google. I can only hope that someone, out there in Feldgrauland, with a good grasp of Czech to English skills, can make better sense of it....

Re: Dietse Militie / Zwarte Brigade

Prosper Vandenbroucke: thank you for your help. I read as much as I could understand on the internet in English, French and Flemish about this militia but what I was really looking for was the reason this military arm of the Flemish Front(V.N.V.) was created in the first place. Could you possibly te...
