Well, I've done proof reading for a few authors here. I also have worked with some people who don't speak English as a first language. There was one book that we almost re-wrote, because the translation was rather wonky.

I am also working on a fictional work. It's in parallel with the divisional history I'm working on, so it's going VERY slowly.....

Sadly, the chance has passed. The CDs are no more.

I would add one suggestion. A semester or three of German language? Would that I had done that a few decades ago.

My guess would be the helmet belonged to Hauptfeldwebel Kampe. As to which unit, it's hard to call.

That Feldpostnummer was assigned by rotation to the units listed. He could have belonged to any one of them.
