Wilkommen, mein Herr!

Others here have better German than I do. Where did you grow up, what part of Germany?

Re: Help with SS-Ranks

the o.G. and m.G. make me think 'ohne' and 'mit,' with or without, but nothing's coming to mind for the 'G'. Anwärter was a cadet, or candidate. I'm not entirely sure if it meant under-going training, or waiting for the check to clear for Party dues. Going from Mann to Sturmmann was indeed a promoti...

Then the entire war would have been postponed.

Re: Vermisstenbildliste DRK SO III

Quick question, on one of the headings used in these lists.

How important in the LND-Buchstabe? I know it's a reference, but it just refers to the Land the men came from, right?

Re: E-Book Plans of Authors & Publishers

Tom - Thanks for posting those comments about your experience with the Kindle, I recently read that Amazon had reported selling a million Kindles a week during the Christmas holiday season. I also read this week that the paper version of a book may turn out to be less expensive than an e-book versi...

Re: E-Book Plans of Authors & Publishers

I have just finished reading two e-books on my new Kindle. For just general reading, they're fine. Hell, I have a Worterbuch on there even! I found out that one book I have was just released in Kindle format. I'm curious, because I've heard different things about the abilities of this machine as far...

Re: Clues about my Opa's Panzer Division

So far, that information still indicates training units, nothing operational.

www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/ is a good site with a lot of information. You might be able to get some good clues there.

Diensttagebuch?

I have looked through indices of microfilm at NARA, and haven't seen what I needed. Does anyone here know specifically how to look for a Diensttagebuch? KTBs seem to be fairly easy, but DTBs not so much! I'm looking for the DTBs for SS-TK 6., 7., and 9., from (preferably) their beginnings up until t...
