Bullet markings (NOT Cartridge cases) ID help needed

Hi, I've found an old bullet (I'm told it may be French and WW1) with letter and numeral markings. The bullet is approx the size as a German 7.92mm but slightly longer. There is a central letter "R" with the following 4 marks around it: "A." / "R.S" / "4." / &...

request for translation of Japanese cloth label

Hi,

Can anyone help to translate a clothing label in a Japanese tunic - it's a handwritten piece about 4 inches square?
I've got the image in a MS Word file so can't find a way of posting it on this forum but could email it to anyone who could help.

thanks

Translastion request for German letter

Hi,

I've got a letter written in German on the back of a brown envelope in pencil. It won't photograph or scan but I've managed to get a reasonable photocopy. Can anyone help with a translation if I mail in? It can go on this forum at a later date.

thanks

Re: Coloured versions of 7 x 50 binoculars

Thanks Simon, The only reason I suspected a Kreigsmaring connection is something I read a long toime ago (and have forgotten where!) that the navy sometimes used a blue version. I agree that they should have a Kreigsmarine eagle and/or letter M. I've never really considered an army issue - but it ma...

Coloured versions of 7 x 50 binoculars

Can anyone help me with information about a green/blue bodied pair of binoculars? They are stamped 'beh' and have the serial number 441323. There are no other marks. I'm interested in any branch of the Kreigsmarine which may have used a coloured version rather than the traditional black. I recall re...

Re: For sale - original boxed K98 rounds (deactivated)

All individual boxes have now gone but I do have one complete Tragschlaufe left (20 boxes of 15 rounds) which I would prefer not to split. Price on request if anyone is interested.

Re: SS Polizei Division stamped letter 28/4/43

Many thanks once again Hildtraut. Looks like another soldier with a bit of a fixation about food !!

Can anyone else help out with the translation?
Also, any ideas on the "S" suffix on the Feldpost number?

Re: South African Armoured Division 1943

Thanks John, a useful start. My interest is as a result of buying a poster for a rugby game on Dec 25th 1943 between a British team from Cairo (RAF and Army) and a SA Armoured Div team played at the El Alamein Rugby Club !! I wonder who won ??!

South African Armoured Division 1943

Hi,
Does anyone know which South African Armoured Division was stationed around El Alamein (or perhaps Cairo) in December 1943?

Thanks
