Re: British TOE

Hello I suggest you get hold of a copy of my good friend Alan Philson's 'The British Army 1939-1945 - British Expeditionary Force - Organisation and Order of Battle 10th May 1940 Volume 1'. The TOE for the infantry battalion is very detailed and runs to six pages. This volume also has TOE's for all ...

Re: Dugdales OoB Books

Maybe I can shed some light on Dugdale's sources. I share the same publisher and from my conversations with him about Dugdale I can confirm he uses German archival sources. He has spent many years compiling the data for his books. I understand he has found numerous errors in the documents in the arc...

This brigade was overrun on 27 May 1942 by the 15th & 21st Pz Divs and Ariete division. The remnants reformed at Buq Buq and covered the withdrawal to El Alamein. The brigade was dispersed in July, but in August reformed. Its components were: 2nd Royal Lancers (Gardner's Horse) Prince Albert Vic...

The best source for officer postings in the Luftwaffe I've come across is 'Die Deutsche Luftwaffe 1939-1945' by Kurt Mehner & Reinhard Teuber. It lists all the commanders of the various elements of the air ministry and OKL plus the Luftgau, air units, FLAK, Luftwaffe field divisions, constructio...

Both statements are actually correct. The U-Boat and escorts left La Spezia on 05.04.44 and U-455 was reported lost on 06.04.44.

K Wynn in his 'U-Boat Operations Volume 1' speculates that one of her own mines detonated.

The Luftwaffe over Germany was a recent addition to my library. It is a good single volume work on the German day fighter force against the USAAF. The ultimate on this subject and indeed the Luftwaffe fighter force would be the books in the series DIE JAGDFLIEGERVERBĂ„NDE DER DEUTSCHEN LUFTWAFFE 1934...

The regiment was converted into a four battery LAA in March 1941. It was sent to Greece and also saw action on Crete. The heavy losses incurred led to the dissolution of the regiment in July 1941.

The short answer is the regiment ceased to be an anti-tank unit, when it converted to a light anti-aircraft regiment on 14 Mar 1941.

So no more batteries and no 6pdrs.

Hello I received my CD fairly quickly, and I'm in the UK. If you look at the Map CD forum there maybe a problem with the quality of the scans. I came across feldgrau.net whilst searching the net. Your plan to offer CDs of German situation maps caught my eye and I ordered seven of the CD's. All the maps came on one CD which initially caused some concern as I would expect the map files to be at least 50MB each. The files on the CD ranged fro...
