Macarthy of the 'Bureau Concordia'

Hi I found a mention of this man (I presume) as having worked in the Bureau Concordia. Apparently he was influenced by Goebbels and Joyce propaganda and joined the Perish Juda Club. It is thought he joined the Kurt Eggers and disappeared. Does anyone know anything of this man. It may possibly be an ...

What a lovely idea. I can't see the British Government allowing such a thing. I bet your parents were thrrilled.

Air Raid Wardens

Hi I came across a book entitled The Air-Raid Warden Was a Spy: And Other Tales from Home-Front America in World War II by William B Breuer During the war Air Raid Wardens were an everyday part of life in Britain making sure no lights were showing and, of couse, assisting the victims of air raids. T...

Canaris' Diary

Hi

What happened to the diary written by Canaris? Did the Nazis destroy it or does someone else have it?

Thank you

Re: Abwehr Records

Thank you Abicht. But surely, if all personel connected to the Abwehr are listed under that, it means unless anyone knows what to look under they won't find what they want. Did you go to NARA in person? I am in the UK.

Abwehr Records

Hi In The Game of the Foxes by Ladislas Farrago he mentions he found Abwehr records about which nothing had been done. My query is: have the American Archives now translated and filed them. The reason I ask is that they replied to a question I asked with the fact they did not use names and they sugg...

Re: Only 12 American Treason Personnel?

Hi Rand Thank you very much. I can't help thinking the Americans received harsher punishment for minor crimes. Our citizens who helped the enemy just received short holidays at His Majesty's expense. Our 4 men convicted of High Treason were sentenced to hang - 2 did Amery and Joyce with the other 2 ...

Re: British or French Archives ?

Hi

At Kew (the National Archives) you copy your own documents for 20 pence an A3 sheet. There are only four copiers so it gets hectic at busy times but I love it.

Re: British or French Archives ?

Hi Mad Dog If you want to visit any one is welcome. Just turn up with a passport or driving licence and a utility bill with your address on. Then they take a photo and put it on your card. A word of warning they have changed the rules recently and don't allow you to take in paper clips or pencils wi...

Re: Only 12 American Treason Personnel?

Hi Rand We had a few people who helped German POWs and they escaped more lightly. I don't know the exact punishment but it certainly was not treason. They were charged with barbouring an escaped fugitives. During the war the POWs were either detained in the Isle of Man, in Australia and Canada or la...
