Operation Stosser
Hello, I am trying to find out just how dispersed the paratrooper drop was during Operation Stosser. I understand that it was very bad conditions for a paratrooper drop (low clouds, night, high winds, inexperienced Ju52 pilots, little training etc) and have read accounts saying some landed in Bonn (...

All I know is what I was personally told by the museum in late 2005. That the man in the photo has been identified, lives in the USA, has been contacted but wishes to stay anonymous. There is no conspiracy, this is what I was told by the museum and that is it. Discreditting me or trying to deny I wa...

I seriously doubt if the man mentioned by the museum is really the man in that photo. I seriously question why you (or anyone else) must think that. If I recall correctly, they said that had actually invited the man to join them for I think the 60th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge in 2004 bu...

Offering payment would certainly be the last resort and dependant on what he may be willing to divulge, but given. Certainly a before and after shot of him holding that photo of him would be a minimal request (and be a remarkable one at that), followed by his name and short summary of his life since...

As much as I respect this man's wishes to stay annonymous and his apparently reluctant status of representing the average German WW2 SS soldier to so many people, I almost feel this man has a obligation to history to at least have his story documented before it is too late and he leaves this world ...

Re: If you are a WW2 historian after a scoop of a story....
Ave Bullman, If there were a way that I could contact him, I would. Evidently the Belgain museum did, and he refused to give his story to them. That leads me to believe that not only will the museum not help in any search, but also that the soldier himself might not appreciate your contacting him. ...

If you are a WW2 historian after a scoop of a story....
Hello all. This is my first post here at these forums. Last year on my WW2 battlefield of western Europe, I was able to visit the awesome Ardennen Poteau '44 Museum in Belgium that is dedicated to the Battle of the Bulge. It is of extra interest because it is located only a few hundered meters up th...
