Although I-B's post does seem to be selling us something, I'm not sure he is. After all, what self respecting salesman would say "Buy my product! But you can also get it for free here...your choice!" If this is from the same material which was recently aired over here (C4, Phylo?), it actu...

Hi Phylo, That's exactly what I meant. I'm aware there was no formal treaty in place, though I'll admit I was slightly vague as to my thrust, in my previous post. I was alluding to what you said, with regards to the political situation in pre war Europe. Had I not been 9 cans down, I may have elabor...

Hi all,

Interesting question. I'll reverse it, and ask did the Germans make a fatal decision by allying with the Italians?

What real benefit did this give Germany, and how much of the decision stems from pre-war political alliances?

Cheers,

Hmm...Sorry, must have mis-interpreted the question...thought it was alluding to the Brandenburgers roots coming from that campaign. One of Lettow's officers created them, no?

I know the Schutztruppen, but I'm struggling to come up with a connection...

The Brandenburgers?

Unit's, plural? Other than that, I'm stumped. Unless it isn't another German or WWII unit.

Cheers,

Just to share with you all, the real PC spirit of this holiday...a snippet of an email I received today. If you celebrate Christmas then do have a very merry one, and if you're doing something else, or celebrating something else, we wish you the very best in any case What happened to a simple "...

It's no doubt an oft told story, but... (The details escape me, my books are elsewhere) A USAAF Officer, rear echelon, had a fine business going, with smuggling goods to the continent, post 6-6-44. When he was close he being found out, he apparently took a Dakota on a regular flight, murdered his co...

Hi Folks, Although I seem to have opened a can of worms, Im glad I did, as it seems some varied, informed views are on the go here. I'm not sure that making Feldgrau an exclusive membership only site is the way forward, although I do agree with Paddy that some form of renumeration could be a way to,...

Marc, I had thought of putting German, Russian and Polish, before I put French, I had an inkling it may upset someone, whatever language I put. It was only a turn of phrase, mon ami, considering I have lived in France for nearly a year, I don't have anything against your country, or language! Cheers,

Not WWII related, but a true story, and one that could only happen in Scotland... U2 were performing in Glasgow, and at a certain point through the concert, as he always does, Bono got the crowd to be silent, and started clapping his hands, slowly, at three second intervals... Clap...Clap...Clap...&...

Jason, I did not mean to disrespect you, but your post seems to agree with my point of view. I'll admit I do try to put my own pseudo-literary slant on my posts. I've enjoyed Feldgrau all these years because of the extensive site, the forum where I can find out the little things, or feel part of a c...

I'm away to go to bed, and I'll come back to this tomorrow, But, Sniper, that comment was badly phrased in retrospect. By no means do I think the current mods are doing a bad job, and I am glad you are all here, doing such a good job. I think my affinity with David and Tom can attest that. I did not...

Jason, I respect you, but I really don't know what to say to that.

I do believe I wasn't speaking gibberish, or 'Foreign', and had put my case forward reasonably well.

And I get a sarcastic "Huh??" from the site owner.

Guess that says it all.

PS - I'm not sure the moderators can ever control the direction of the forum. It's 2007, and not Soviet Russia. I think the majority decides the direction.

The moderators always have the final say though.

I've got more to say, but I'll leave it to the floor for now.
