New Manstein biography

Post by Richard Hargreaves »

Which looks very promising, not least because the author has had access to the Generalfeldmarschall's paper. As far as I recall, the Manstein family have until now guarded them quite closely. :[]

Of course, you chaps don't have access to that because you're not registered...

Luckily, I have special powers. :D

Mungo Melvin Manstein Hitler’s Most Controversial General

The definitive biography of Germany’s most controversial military hero Erich von Manstein was the operational brains behind some of Nazi Germany’s most spectacular military triumphs, including the lightning conquest of France in May 1940. He was one of the few generals ever to stand up to Hitler, and yet was also implicated in war crimes on the Russian Front. This biography, written with exclusive access to the Manstein family papers, is the definitive work on one of Germany’s most controversial figures. Major General Mungo Melvin is Senior Director at the Ministry of Defence. He lives in Germany and Windsor. This is his first book.
